Halo Infinite: How to Disable Async Compute

Halo Infinite multiplayer is here and is already smashing records. According to MetroUK, over a quarter million players are enjoying the free beta version of the game. However, those on PC may encounter an issue where the game crashes. If you’re dealing with this frustrating problem, it may be an issue with the Async Compute setting. It’s a simple issue to correct. For those in need of help, here’s a quick way to disable the Async Compute setting so you can enjoy Halo Infinite multiplayer.

Even if you have all the minimum and recommended PC system requirements, there’s a chance that Halo Infinite multiplayer may still crash sporadically, and in this case, it may be the Async Compute setting.

Thankfully, this is a known problem within the multiplayer beta with the devs even confirming that players that have an AMD Radeon RX 500 Series GPU may see their game crash if Async Compute is turned on. With that said, here’s how you can turn it off so you can get back to playing:

  • On the main screen of Halo Infinite, click on the Settings found at the bottom right of the screen. You may also press F1 to get the Settings tab to open up.

  • Select the Video tab.

  • Scroll almost to the bottom to find Async Compute.

  • Make sure the box is not checked. If it is, click it to uncheck it.

Once it’s disabled, close down your game and restart it. You’ll be able to tell if the issue is resolved. If that doesn’t help, then you may need to contact Support for more assistance.
